Support charity through taking part!

"Krtek", the Childhood Cancer Foundation in Brno, is a partner of the ?Tesco Run for Life?.  All earnings from this charity run will be devoted to the development of a system of home care.
These funds will support the work of the Children's Oncology Department at the Faculty Hospital that provides home care for the smallest patients as it is well known that these children require a short a stay as possible in hospital and then to be in their own home environment in order to positively influence their recovery. At the moment, the main help is the lending of the medical tools and supportive instruments, such as rehabilitative tools, motor splints and oxygen concentrators.
The main goal of the home care, however, is to help with the development and equipment that is required by a group of doctors and nurses who visit sick children whenever their parents call, and who will diagnose the children's state and do all necessary steps to solve whatever the problem is.  This means that there is no requirement for transport to, or care in the  hospital. Home care is concerned with the connection between the special treatment that aids recovery and the prolongation of life, with palliative care and its emphasis on life quality and the complete view of a patient, his/her family and their broader social environment.
This activity is not financed by health insurance; all costs are therefore covered by the sources of the Krtek foundation.
