Junior Marathon rules
Race rules
Team of students from high school runs as a relay track of classical marathon (42,195 km). Each team must have at least 3 girls (run 3rd , 5th, 7th leg). Nine legs are 4 000 m long and one is 6 195 m long. Length of semifinal race leg according to local conditions can be modified, nevertheless lengths of all 10 legs must equal track of classical marathon.
Each student runs his/her leg and after changeover another student starts. During changeover finishing student must touch hand of starting student in designated area (in Prague's final chip is handed over). Winning team is the one, whose last runner is first in finish.
School team
Each school is represented by one team with 10 members (second team can enroll upon agreement with organizers). Each member must be students of daily study program. Each team must have at least 3 girls.
School, that doesn't have enough students to create one team, can cooperate with another school in creating team, organizers must be informed latest during registration. Such team does not compete in race and cannot qualify to final race. Rule of 3 girls in team applies.
Team members must be born in 1992 or later.
School round
Organizing of school round is not compulsory; rules are set up by each school. School with best organized and documented round will receive one wild card to final race.
Semifinal races
Semifinal races take place in April 2012. It will be 14 races (Pardubice race takes place in Hradec Kralove together with Hradec Kralove race) in larger cities around Czech Republic. Qualify to final race will winners of particular semi-finals up to 10 teams competing semifinal, if there will be 11 to 20 teams competing first two teams qualify to final race, if there will be more than 21 teams competing first three teams qualify.
If team from abroad or from another region competes in semi-final, it can qualify to final if it finishes on qualifying place. This team does not count to qualification limit from region. Each school can participate only in one semifinal race.
School will be disqualified from race for not having 3 girls in team, if participating students will be from another school, or if participating student won't be attending daily study program.
Final race
Final race takes place within Volkswagen Prague Marathon on May 13th 2012 and participate:
- Schools qualified from semifinal races
- Schools with wild card granted by organizers
- Invited teams from abroad (do not compete in race)
