Hervis Prague Half Marathon and Volkswagen Prague Marathon, both holders of the IAAF Road Race Gold Label, belong amongst the best long distance races in the world and contradict the presumption that it is not possible to run fast in Prague.
The current IAAF rankings (1st June, 2011) present interesting statistics:
Hervis Prague Half Marathon: the winner in the men´s category, Philemon Limo, who finished the race in 59:30, became the third fastest runner of the half marathon this year. Lydia Cheromei, the winner in the women´s category, ranks second fastest with her time of 1:07:13.
On May 8th, 2011, the 6th fastest marathon in the world took place in Prague. The winner, Benson Barus, ranked 10th in the world rankings with his time of 2:07:07. Lydia Cheromei, the winner in the women’s category, finished in 2:22:34 which was her second fastest personal time and ranked 4th in the women´s category this year.
