Answers to questions related to the ranking of the 12th Hervis Prague Half Marathon
As you may have discovered, we encountered a few problems with the ranking of last Saturday?s Hervis Prague Half Marathon. Here below are some answers to your questions:
What was the technical cause of the problems?
The weather conditions were difficult not only for the runners but also for the organizing committee. The strong wind, as well as an electrical short-circuit that lasted a few seconds caused a number of technical difficulties that led to some delay in the delivery of race times. A few runners experienced a delay in receiving their results via SMS and had to wait longer than usual to get their medal engraved. For a few runners we also encountered difficulties with the delivery of the real time results. Nevertheless, the official time has been validated.
How many runners were affected?
Less than 2% of the participants were affected.
When will the final results be delivered?
Together with the time keeper, we are working diligently to finalise the complete results with correct real times, and we hope that these will be ready during next week. The official times upon which the ranking is based are not affected and are proven to be fully valid.
When and where can the runners get more information about their times?
According to the rules of the race, the runners are entitled to submit their complaints within one week after the race to the address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Because of these special circumstances, we are extending this period until next Tuesday, April 6th.
What about the results of the relays?
The results of the relays are already available. Since the start of the entire field happened within few seconds, we provide only with the official times.
What are the implications for the next races?
Of course we will learn a lot from this experience and do better next time. We will check every thing one more time and improve the briefing to all persons involved.
About the use of the official time for the ranking
Using the official time for the ranking is common practice and we are not different from any other international race. Furthermore, it is a competition rule from the IAAF. Our results are fully valid.
We sincerely apologize to the runners and we understand their disappointment. Despite these technical difficulties, we consider this 12th Hervis Prague Half Marathon to be a success and we hope that that is what the runners will keep in mind.
