Profile

  • Name: Vanda Kadeřábková-Březinová
  • Age: 36
  • Husband´s name: Petr
  • Number of children and their name: Matěj, 2.5 years
  • Favourite food: Probably fish, for example salmon, or any mediterranean kind of food - obviously I eat a lot of carbohydrates as does every long-distance runner?. and sometimes I enjoy eating chocolate!
  • Favourite movie: Czech movies such as ?Na samotě u lesa?, ?Jak vytrhnout velrybě stoličku??
  • Favourite music: Classic music, Mozart and others
  • Best holiday: Any holiday where I can train ? this year on the Greek island Kos I ran barefoot on the beach. I also enjoy skiing ? the slopes in the Savoy Alps are great!
  • Best running experience: World Championship in the Masters category in Lahti, where there was a great atmosphere and the senior people are racing with the same drive as teenagers (and they would be able to beat many of them!)

3 Best Sporting Achievements

Silver in the 2000m hurdles, 4th position in the 10,000m and finally running ten kilometers in under 40 minutes

Personal record in the Volkswagen Prague Marathon 2009 and 5th position in the Czech Republic?s Championship (3:22,27)

After the World Championship in Lahti, I was offered to start in the extra league for the 2010 season 2010 - I am not getting old, simply growing mature!

Hobbies

Classical singing ? I have not had much time left for it recently, but hope to get back to it one day.

I also enjoy working in our garden ? especially when it is in full bloom - it is a good way to relax. I also can?t forget sub-tropical plants including cactuses which I take home before the winter comes.

What is your role in the PIM Women´s Challenge? What would you like to achieve?

As chief trainer, I would like the project to achieve its goal ? to attract more women to take up running and racing, to encourage young women not to give up the sport when they get married and have kids, to persuade women who have given up the sport to come back, to support older women who might be starting again after many years... To break the myths that women with children can?t be involved in sport, and that older ladies can´t run. A child is not an obstacle, but a gift, and it is never too late to start running! Even among world champions there are women who started running when they were fifty. We are not getting old but growing mature!

Your life motto

The one who doesn´t want looks for reasons, the one who does want looks for ways!
